Men's Hockey takes down John Carroll in overtime thriller

(Canton, MI) The Concordia Men's Hockey team returned to the ice Friday evening for an out of conference bout against the John Carroll Blue Streaks. Concordia jumped out to an early lead which the kept through the first two period before John Carroll scored  back to back goals in the third. Concordia answered back to send it to overtime before winning the game with less than a minute remaining in the extra period.

 

Anthony Seykora started in between the pipes for Concordia, and tallied 30 saves with a 93.8 save percentage.

 

 

The Cardinals drew first blood with the lone goal in the first period by way of Bryce Iott.

 

The score remained 1-0 through the second period, with the Cardinals killing a five minute penalty.

 

Halfway through the third period, the Blue Streaks scored twice within one minute to take the lead. Shane Romback netted a power play goal with under three minutes remaining to send the game into overtime.

 

In the extra period, it wasn't until the final minute that Kyle Hebner was able to score the game winning goal.

 

 

Next up for the Cardinals will be another non-conference game when they host Grand Valley Saturday. Puck drop is set for 5:30 at Arctic Edge in Canton.
