Men's Hockey tops the Ocelots 7-3 on the road

(Westland, MI) Concordia Men's hockey took to the road for a nonconference game at Schoolcraft College. Both sides came into the matchup on winning streaks, with the Cardinals winning their most recent 2 games and the Ocelots winning their past 8 prior. The Cardinals were able to break Schoolcraft's streak with a strong 7-3 performance in the victory.

Ryan Nickerson got his first start between the pipes for Concordia, and earned his first collegiate win, only conceding 3 goals. Ethan Lindle, Kyle Hebner, and Bryce Iott each scored a pair of goals with Jackson Blough leading the team with 3 assists.

The Cardinals drew first blood, scoring on their first power play opportunity of the game when Ethan Lindle scored 8 minutes into the game. The Ocelots knotted things back up at one a piece, but Kyle Hebner scored his first less than a minute later to give Concordia the one goal advantage heading into the first intermission.

Kyle Hebner scored his second early on in the next period to increase the Cardinal lead. Schoolcraft overcame a penalty, even scoring shorthanded, but Bryce Iott got his first goal of the night to keep it a two-score game. Schoolcraft found one more goal near the end of the second period to draw it back within a goal.

The Cardinals responded with three unanswered goals in the third period, with Bryce Iott and Ethan Lindle scoring in quick succession. Nicholas Twombley put the nail in the coffin, scoring with 30 seconds remaining to secure the 7-3 victory over the Ocelots.

The Cardinals will return to conference play this weekend as they take on #13 Indiana Tech. They'll start on the road with a 7:30 PM puck drop on Friday, November 8th in Fort Wayne.
