Baseball falls to Madonna in WHAC Championship Series

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia baseball hosted Madonna for game 2 of the WHAC championship series on Tuesday afternoon.  The game featured multiple lead changes with the Cardinals nearly completing another 9th-inning rally, but the Crusaders took the game 9-7. 

 

Bryon Mane started on the mound, making a strikeout in 3 innings.  The Cardinals took an early lead on a 2-run homer from Drew Fleming. 

Madonna rallied to lead 4-2 after the 3rd, but the Cardinals battled back with a solo shot from Drew Fleming in the 4th.  Fleming struck again in the 5th with his third home run of the day, hitting a 2-run shot to put CUAA up 5-4. 

Madonna plated 4 runs in the 7th to retake the lead.  In the 8th, Aaron West cut into the lead with an RBI single scoring Aaron Brazelton. 

Caleb Harmond hit a sacrifice fly in the 9th to drive in Tyler Wressel and cut the deficit to 9-7.  The Cardinals had 2 baserunners at the end but were unable to tie or take the lead. 

 

Concordia will now await their regional pod assignment in NAIA nationals.
