(Ypsilanti, MI) - The Concordia Cheer team concluded their 2021-22 season at the NAIA National Championships Saturday. Concordia finished 5th overall at the championship event after posting a final overall score of 88.82.

The Cardinals were in 4th after the preliminary round with a score of 88.57. The Cardinals were able to improve upon their score in the final round with a 88.90 after half a point in deductions. The scoring system takes .25 of the preliminary round and .75 of the final performance. That calculation gave the Cardinals a final overall score of 88.82 moving them to 5th place overall.

"The whole weekend has been a wonderful experience led by our amazing seniors," said Cardinal Head Coach Kate Edge. "They stayed positive, energized, and wanted to make it a weekend to remember regardless of placement. Continuing to be one of the top cheer programs in the NAIA is a rollercoaster ride. I'm proud of all they accomplished."

Xavier University took home the team championship (93.70), followed by Indiana Wesleyan (92.58), St. Ambrose (92.17), and Dickinson State (90.04).

The Cardinals served as the host of the championship in 2022 in partnership with the Ann Arbor Sports Commission and will be again in 2023. The EMU George Gervin GameAbove Center will be the location for the NAIA Competitive Cheer and Dance Championships.
