Cheer dominates first competition of the season with first place finish

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Cheer team opened up their season with a home competition on Friday evening. The Cardinals began their season with a bang, defeating the rest of the field by nearly ten points.

The Concordia squad had the highest difficulty rating of the competition with an average of 9.13. The Cards ended the comp with a subtotal of 87.37 before deductions. Three quarters of a point in deductions brought the Cardinals down to 86.62, which is higher than all of their scores last season minus the WHAC and NAIA Championships.

Taking second place behind the Cardinals was Indiana Wesleyan with 76.92 and Siena Heights at 74.30.

"This week the team was charged with focusing on consistency and being accountable for ways they could each impact the collective goal," says Assistant Coach Shanitra Cheff. "They remained focused and delivered a strong performance to kick off the 2023 season."

Next up for the Cardinals will be the Tiger Invite on Friday, January 20th. The event will be held at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.
