Kate Edge enters her 14th year as Spirit Director and Head Co-Ed Cheer and STUNT Coach at Concordia. She was named the department's Senior Woman Leader on September 1, 2022.
Edge has built the Co-Ed Cheer program into a powerhouse at the NAIA level, reaching Nationals each of the last seven seasons, including a national championship in 2019, and a second-place finish in 2023. In addition, the Cardinals have won five consecutive WHAC Championships (2019-23), two NAIA regional championships (and three runner-up finishes), and the first four Cheer CITs (2018-20, 2023). Edge is also a two-time NAIA Coach of the Year and five-time WHAC Coach of the Year (including each of the last four seasons).
Edge has spearheaded the start of a STUNT program at Concordia. The STUNT team competed in their first complete season in 2022 earning their first game point, and game wins within that inaugural year.
Outside of Concordia, she is the Owner of CHEER! MICHIGAN, a summer camp that helps to train all levels of cheer athletes across Michigan. She is a national cheer coach's conference speaker where she presents on team and program building for cheer coaches and athletes. Edge has also been a member of the NAIA Competitive Cheer Executive Committee, currently the Past President. She is a member of the Stunt College Coaches Association and has also coached cheer at the high school level in Michigan and Ohio.
Edge is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University (BA, MA), and earned a Master’s in Higher Education from Concordia. She lives in Woodhaven with her husband Jeff and their four children.
