(Ann Arbor, MI) Now through their first ten varsity seasons, Concordia Football has grown from a new program into a perennial playoff team that has won two consecutive Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast Conference Championships. The past decade saw many great players don the Concordia red and black who contributed to the success of the team. Below are the 24 position winners that were voted on by former and current players and fans as the Concordia Football All-Decade team.
Cardinals Football All-Decade Team: Offense
QB: Seth Suida (2014-2017)
The Cardinals signal-caller for Concordia's first playoff team, Suida was a threat both in the air and on the ground. Suida is the program leader in career passing yards (4588) and passing touchdowns (50). He also has the most career rushing yards (931) and rushing touchdowns (9) among Cardinal quarterbacks. The Livonia native was named to the MSFA Mideast Second Team his senior season while winning NCCAA Player of the Week twice and earning an NCCAA All-American Honorable Mention.
RB: Joe Conner (2015-2018)
Conner is atop every single-season and career rushing record in the CUAA record books as he totaled 3,946 yards and 41 touchdowns throughout his career. He scored a Cardinal-record 122 points in his senior campaign on his way to First Team NAIA All-American Status. The awards didn't end there as he accumulated three First Team All-MSFA Mideast nods and three MSFA Mideast Player of the Week honors. Conner was dubbed the MSFA Mideast and NCCAA Player of the Year in 2018.
WR: Roderick Dailey (2015-2019)
Dailey is the program leader in both career receptions (178) and receiving yards (2,323). Also used as a threat on the ground, Dailey rushed for 632 yards throughout his Cardinal career and is second in program history with 3,203 all-purpose yards over his four seasons. Roderick holds the single game record for most receiving yards in a game when he accumulated 240 yards against Trinity International in 2016. The receiver was given First Team All-MSFA Mideast and First Team NCCAA All-America honors in his final two seasons with Concordia.
WR: Herman Mason (2014-2017)
Mason is the most prolific wideout scorer in program history as he hauled in a record 20 touchdowns over his Concordia career. A deep threat as well, Herman averaged a Concordia record 22.63 yards per catch in 2015. Mason returned kicks for the Cardinals, and is third all-time with 605 yards. Currently serving as Concordia's Wide Receiver Coach, Mason earned Second Team All-MSFA Mideast honors as a junior and was named to the First Team in his senior campaign.
WR: Corey Turner (2012-2015)
Corey Turner is the only receiver to be in the top three of all three career receiving records with 162 receptions (2nd), 1,864 yards (2nd), and 16 touchdowns (3rd). He also holds the single season record for receptions with 63 in 2014 and single game receptions record with 11 against Trinity International also in 2014. Turner was named to the Honorable Mention All-MSFA Mideast Team his sophomore season and won Second Team honors his final two seasons as a Cardinal.
TE: Luke Wilson (2018-2021)
Recent graduate Luke Wilson leads Concordia tight ends in all three career receiving records with 93 receptions, 1,087 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Notably, in the spring 2021 season Wilson caught (a near single game record) 10 passes for 104 yards in the Cardinals playoff win over Georgetown as he went on to win Offensive Player of the Game. The accolades didn't stop there, with Wilson being named an AP Second Team All-American, NCCAA First Team All-American, and two time All-MSFA First Team award recipient.
OL: Donovan Corlew (2017-2020)
The first Cardinal to earn two NAIA All-American awards was Donovan Corlew. The tackle was a staple on the offensive line as he started three seasons. While he was a starter, the offense was able to accumulate over 14,000 total yards and score 139 touchdowns. Corlew was a three time member of the MSFA Mideast All-Conference team, being named to the First Team twice. In addition, he was a two-time member of the NCCAA All-American team in both 2018 and 2019.
OL: Norman Cyr (2013-2016)
A four-year starter on the Cardinal offensive line, Cyr was instrumental in helping the offense get to new levels. Throughout his four seasons, the offensive was able to account for 106 total touchdowns, including 41 his senior season. Anchoring the offensive line as one of the two starting guards, the team was able to rush and pass for over 13,000 total yards. Cyr was a three time honoree by the MSFA Mideast, with a First Team mention in his final season.
OL: Caleb Muxlow (2017-2020)
A conversion from tight end to the offensive line seemed like the best move for Muxlow as he became the Cardinals starting center. During his two years as a starter, the Cardinal offense was able to account for 6,219 yards and 58 total touchdowns. Muxlow was an NCCAA All-American and an MSFA Mideast First Team selection in 2020.
OL: Darricle Jones (2014-2017)
A two-year member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, Jones played guard and tackle over his final two seasons as a Cardinal. In his senior season, playing as a guard, Jones was able to help the Cardinals to one of their most prolific offensive seasons in which they scored 52 total touchdowns with over 4,800 yards of total offense. In both of his seasons starting on the offensive line he was named to an MSFA Mideast All-Conference team, earning First Team honors his senior season.
OL: James Williams (2017-2020)
The final member of the Cardinal offense is a three-year starter on the line, James Williams. A part of some of Concordia's most prolific offensive years, the tackle was able to help anchor the offensive line to 98 touchdowns as a part of the starting line. In his final season, Williams earned an MSFA Mideast Second Team award.
Cardinals Football All-Decade Team: Special Teams
K: Josh Kukulies (2015-2017)
In his first year as the team's main kicker, Kukulies was able to make waves in the record books. After going 69% on his field goals (9 of 13), he was able to break the single season record for most field goals in one year. Kukulies also went 35 of 37 on extra points on the season. He also holds the record for longest field goal made, when he hit a 51-yarder against Missouri Baptist in 2017. Following the 2017 season, Kukulies earned First Team honors for the MSFA Mideast.
P: Andrew O'Hara (2015-2018)
Making his first of two appearances on this list is Andrew O'Hara. Over his time as a punter, he was able to get off 182 punts for 6,997 yards, with a 38.4 yard average. He sits at second for both punts and yardage, while he is third in punting average. Against Taylor (IN) back in 2017, O'Hara punted the longest ball in program history as it went for 76 yards. He was awarded First Team honors for the MSFA Mideast in his final two seasons in the red and black.
Cardinals Football All-Decade Team: Defense
DL: Alex Hinojosa (2017-2020)
The first member of the defensive line, Hinojosa was the second player in program history to earn an MSFA Mideast Defensive Player of the Year. Hinojosa currently sits at fourth in program history for both sacks and tackles for loss with 16.5 and 33 respectively. He was a NAIA All-American in 2020, which was his final season. He tacked on two First Team All-Conference awards as well.
DL: Andrew Foerster (2017-2021)
The second member of the defensive line is Andrew Foerster, who is second member on the All-Decade Team who graduated after last season. Foerster was known for creating mayhem in the offensive backfield with 20.5 sacks, which is second all-time, and 32.5 tackles for loss, which is tied for fifth all-time. This past season Foerster earned his first NAIA All-American honor, while also being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. He also earned two MSFA Mideast All-Conference honors.
DL: Kaleb Pohlman (2014-2017)
One of the cornerstones early on in program history, Pohlman was a staple for the Cardinal defense. After playing special teams, for his first couple years he earned a spot on the defense. Pohlman currently sits at seventh on the career list for tackles for loss with 27.5 and was also able to accumulate 148 tackles. Pohlman was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District member in 2017 and was a two-time member of the MSFA Mideast All-Conference team.
DL: Hunter Cox (2013-2016)
Cox is the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-American, which honors both academics and athletic ability, back in 2016. He holds the sixth-most sacks in program history with 12.5, including 7.5 in his junior season. Cox also tacked on 214 tackles throughout his career which is seventh-most as a Cardinal. In addition to his statistics, Cox is a two-time member of the MSFA Mideast All-Conference teams, with two Honorable Mention honors.
LB: Andrew O'Hara (2015-2018)
Not only making an impact as a punter, but also at linebacker, O'Hara receives honors for the second time on the All-Decade Team, this time on the defensive end of the ball. After accumulating 46 tackles for loss, 17 sacks and 348 total tackles, O'Hara is listed in the record books as second for tackles for loss and third for both sacks and total tackles. He was a four-time honoree of the MSFA Mideast All-Conference Team, with two First Team selections.
LB: Takari Johnson (2011-2014)
The program's first NAIA All-American, Johnson's name is plastered across the Cardinal record books as he holds six season and career records, in addition to multiple single game records. He was the first player in program history to earn a Cliff Harris nomination. Johnson was also a two-time MSFA Mideast Defensive Player of the Year, a three-time MSFA Mideast Player of the Week and a three-time All-Conference Selection, with two First Team honors.
LB: Hunter Maynard (2018-2021)
The third player on this list who recently graduated, Maynard was a mainstay on the Cardinal defense over the past three seasons, making the All-Conference team the past two seasons. He collected 223 tackles over his career, which was sixth best in the program's history. This past season, Maynard also became the first Cardinal in program history to win MSFA Mideast Defensive Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks.
DB: Ryan Fish (2017-2020)
Fish is the most recent Cardinal defensive back to make the All-Decade Team. A 2020 NAIA All-American, Fish had one of the best careers for a defensive back in program history as he picked off 12 passes in his career, which was two behind the leader. He also accumulated 202 tackles, 10.5 for a loss, and 17 pass break ups over his career. Fish was a two-time MSFA Mideast All-Conference selection and was the NCCAA Player of the Year in 2020 as well.
DB: Nick Holshoe (2013-2016)
Holshoe's name is scattered all across the record books as a defender. Over his time as a Cardinal he accumulated 14 interceptions and 381 tackles which is first and second respectively for a career. He also holds career records for pass break ups and fumble recoveries. Holshoe was the Cardinals second Cliff Harris Award nominee and was named to the All-MSFA Mideast team three times, including a First Team mention in 2015.
DB: Ra-Heem Hill (2014-2017)
Hill is another solid defensive back for the Cardinals influential years. Over his four years, he accumulated 167 tackles, 13 pass break ups and six interceptions (which is sixth-best in program history). Hill was also able to collect some yearly awards as he was a 2017 MSFA Mideast All-Conference as well as an NCCAA 2nd Team All-American.
DB: Tim Koehler (2015-2018)
Koehler was a mainstay on the back end of the Cardinal defense for three seasons as he ended his career with the fourth-most interceptions in program history, two of which he returned for a touchdown. In addition to the stats, Koehler was able to rack up some national awards as he was a 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-American, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, a two-time MSFA Mideast Second Team honoree, four-time NCCAA All-America honoree, and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2018.
