Football's Stewart earns Player of the Week honors for MSFA; Wiemer NCCAA

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA)  announced their weekly players of the week on Monday afternoon. Brandon Stewart and Andrew Wiemer earned honors for their efforts in the win against Lawrence Tech last Saturday. Stewart earned himself the MSFA Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Wiemer was named NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week.

Stewart, a freshman from Woodhaven, Michigan, put in his best performance of the year with over 180 total yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, he picked up 149 yards on 21 rushes with two of his touchdowns. He hauled in one reception for 34 yards through the air and his final touchdown.

Wiemer, a junior from Bratenhal, Idaho, also had his best performance on the defensive side of the ball as he was able to pick off the Lawrence Tech offense twice. His interception towards the end of the first half was the first of his Cardinal career. He also added two tackles on Special Teams.

These awards are the first for both Stewart and Wiemer in their Cardinal careers. They join Seeger DeGayner (MSFA x2, NCCAA x1) and Casey Rauch (MSFA x1) as the Cardinals to win weekly awards this season.

The Cardinals are back on the road as they head to Madonna University on Saturday, November 5th with kick-off at 12:30 pm.
