Men's Basketball downs Lourdes in WHAC opener; Yahn reaches 100 wins

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Men's Basketball returned home for their first WHAC matchup of the season, against the Gray Wolves from Lourdes. The Cardinals were able to overcome an early deficit in the beginning of the game and ran away with the game for a 19-point victory. The win also marked Head Coach Ricky Yahn's 100th career win with the program.

The Cardinals limited Lourdes to 24.1% from the field, which is the best in Ricky Yahn's tenure at Concordia. The Cardinals had four players surpass double digits in points as Matt Lockhart and Zackary Johnson both had 12, and Jayden Priddy and Zack Clark had 11.

Lourdes jumped out to a 7-point lead less than four minutes into the game, until a Jayden Priddy three pointer gave Concordia their first lead. The lead would change two more times in the first half, but Concordia was slowly able to grow their lead to as big as ten. Zackary Johnson led the team with 9 points in the half, followed by Jayden Priddy with 5. Devyn Jones pulled down an impressive 8 rebounds in the half as well.

Lourdes was able to close the gap right after the half, making much of the remainder of the game within five points. Johnson and Kip French threes helped the Cardinals pull ahead towards the middle of the half. French took a steal coast to coast for a 14-point lead shortly following that. The Cardinals scored 11 straight points to close out the game and secure the win in the WHAC opener.

Next up for the Cardinals will be an away game at Rochester on Saturday, November 12th. Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
