Men's Basketball falls to Rochester on the Road

(Rochester, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Basketball team traveled to Rochester University for their second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup of the young season as they would take on the Warriors in a matinee showing early Saturday afternoon. 

 

CUAA entered the match at 1-3 overall while being 1-0 in WHAC play, the Warriors on the other hand would enter at 3-1 overall with this being their opening WHAC matchup of the season. 

 

The Cardinals would start the game with their first basket at the 18:22 mark on a Matt Lockhart 3-pointer to start the CUAA scoring. Both teams would see back-and-forth play throughout the first half. Neither team could take firm control of the game as the two teams would stay within four points of each other throughout the first 13 minutes. 

 

The Cards would go up 23-17 on a Zakary Johnson three-point basket. D'Angelo Stoxstill made a couple of baskets that would allow the Cardinals to maintain the lead. The final two minutes saw Kip French make a pair of free throws while Jayden Priddy made a layup in the last five seconds to put the halftime score at 34-32 Rochester. 

 

Devyn Jones had the first bucket on an "and-1" layup to bring the score within 1-point. Following a couple of made shots from Rochester, Zac Clark would score five straight points to even the score at 42. 

 

With a score of 58-54 Rochester, The Cards would get a free throw from Priddy, before being shut out for the rest of the match as the Warriors scored the final 9 points of the game to seal the 67-55 win. 

 

CUAA's next matchup will be at home on Wednesday, November 16, as they go up against the Racers from Northwestern Ohio.
