Men's Basketball falls at home against Rochester
 
 

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball played host to Rochester for a Saturday afternoon WHAC contest.  The Cardinals kept the contest close well into the second half, but the Warriors pulled away for a 78-68 win. 

Matt Lockhart led the team with 16 points.  Zackary Johnson scored 14 points, while Zac Clark was third with 12 points.  Kip French came in fourth with 11 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. 

 

Devyn Jones made a free throw for Concordia's first point.  The Cardinals took a 6-3 lead after Nate Brighton scored inside and Zackary Johnson hit a 3-pointer.  Rochester countered with a 10-0 run until Jayden Priddy made a steal and a basket.  Zac Clark was a force inside with three inside baskets and CUAA trailed 18-14 at the midway point. 

Jayden Priddy drained two free throws and both Nate Brighton and Matt Lockhart scored in the paint.  Zackary Johnson provided a spark with two free throws and a 4-point play after a made triple.  Kip French knocked down a 3-pointer late in the half and CUAA trailed 39-30 at halftime. 

 

Matt Lockhart scored in transition to open the second half.  Nate Brighton and Lockhart added layups as the Cardinals continued to fight.  Zac Clark scored inside as well and Kip French converted a 4-point play on a triple.  Colton Ritsema scored in the paint and CUAA trailed 57-49 at the midway point of the half. 

Matt Lockhart continued his solid game with a basket and two free throws.  Zackary Johnson and Zac Clark had inside baskets and the Cardinals came within 6 points down 72-66.  However, Rochester was able to close out the game defensively to earn the win. 

 

Concordia will travel to UNOH this Wednesday at 7:30pm.
