(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball played host to UM-Dearborn on Saturday in WHAC play. The Cardinals put forth a strong offensive performance in a 95-72 win.
Zackary Johnson led the team with a career-high 27 points. Matt Lockhart's double-double gave him 23 points and 10 rebounds. Kip French was third with 18 points. Nate Brighton had 14 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
Zac Clark scored inside for the first Cardinal basket. Zackary Johnson hit an early 3-pointer and Jayden Priddy drove for a go-ahead layup. Colton Ritsema scored off the high glass and made two free throws. Zackary Johnson knocked down two 3-pointers and CUAA trailed 18-17 at the midway point.
Nate Brighton hit a go-ahead triple and Zackary Johnson converted an "and-1". Matt Lockhart drained free throws and scored inside. Kip French had two baskets and both Nate Brighton and Zackary Johnson hit triples. French and Matt Lockhart added layups, Johnson hit a corner triple, and Lockhart capped the half with a dunk. CUAA led 47-33 at halftime.
Zackary Johnson opened the scoring with a quick layup in the second half. Matt Lockhart made a 3-pointer and free throws from Nate Brighton kept the Cardinals ahead. Zac Clark converted inside and Zackary Johnson finished another "and-1". Nate Brighton made a 3-pointer and a layup from Matt Lockhart put CUAA up 67-51 at the midway point.
Kip French continued to score with free throws and a layup. Matt Lockhart, Zackary Johnson, and French all knocked down 3-pointers to extend the lead. Lockhart had another triple late in the game and Henry Knapp got on the scoresheet with a free throw. CUAA claimed the 95-72 win as time expired.
Concordia will travel to Lawrence Tech next Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
