Men's Basketball overpowers Lambton College, 83-45

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia men's basketball hosted Lambton College on Friday afternoon for a non-conference matchup before the Christmas break.  The Cardinals featured a solid offensive performance and cruised to an 83-45 win.

 

Wyatt Zepp led the team with 18 points and five rebounds.  Matt Blanton finished second with 12 points.  Jack Olis came in third with 11 points.  Mason Canfield dished out a team-high of eight assists.

 

Mark DeVries made an offensive putback to open scoring.  Wyatt Zepp made a pair of triples to cap an 8-0 opening run.  The duo continued to pace the offense with Mark DeVries hitting a 3-pointer. Jack Olis added a triple as well and Ray Washington-Battle drove for a layup. Matt Blanton finished an "and-1" to give CUAA a 25-6 lead at the midway point of the half. 

 

Ray Washington-Battle scored another basket and Luke Brohl hit a jumpshot.  Wyatt Zepp, Matt Blanton and Jason Jergens nailed triples to continue the offensive onslaught.  A late jumper from Jack Olis put CUAA ahead 43-11 at halftime.

 

Matt Blanton made a layup to start the second half.  Wyatt Zepp hit another 3-pointer and Jack Olis chipped in a basket.  Jason Jergens added a triple and Trevor Viau converted an "and-1".  Viau made a block on defense as well and a Luke Brohl steal and layup put CUAA up 66-27 midway through the second half.

 

Hunter Yeakey drained two free throws and Luke Brohl knocked down a 3-pointer.  Trevor Viau made a jumpshot and Ben Hamina had two baskets down the stretch.  Francis Senter nailed a jumper in the final seconds to clinch the 83-45 victory for the Cardinals.

 

Concordia will play next at the Oakland City Tourney on December 29th when they face the host school Oakland City at 6pm.
