Men's Bowling competes at Two American Heartland Classics

(Canton, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Bowling team head to the Super Bowl in Canton, Michigan for their first meet in three weeks. Over the two days, the Cardinals would compete in two American Heartland Tournaments. 

 

AHBA #1

The Cardinals would see them finish the first tournament of the weekend in fifth place with a total of 7413 pins. 

 

VARSITY

Brenden Gossman and Korey Reichard were even in the standings as they were tied for 25th place both bowling 1047. Gossman would hit a high game of 234, while Reichard's high was 228. Jeffrey Lizewski would be the next finisher with a 41st-place finish and 999 total pins knocked down. 

 

David Schaberg would see a 102nd-place finish, as he bowled an 823 over four games. Bowling three games would be Jimmy Hunter finishing with 564 pins, while Patrick Good bowled a 397 (2 games), and Spencer Mosher a 198 over one game. 

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

The top two bowlers for the JV team would be Alexander Bumpus and Logan Teubert each ending with 995 pins. Another two Cardinal bowlers that were back-to-back in the standings were Caleb Gard and Hunter Fletcher as they knocked down 961 and 958 pins respectively. The final bowler would be Marek Bernhardt as he ended with a 765. 

 

BREAKING RECORDS

As a team the 5-game series average entered the record books as the average of 1033 is the fifth highest 5-game series average. 

 

OVERALL WINNERS

Lawrence Tech would finish at the top of the leaderboard with 7849 pins, while Jordan Norris from Walsh University ended in first individually with 1153 pins. 

 

AHBA #2

The second tournament of the weekend saw the Cardinals finish seventh in the overall standings. Concordia would finish knocking over 6942 total pins. 

 

VARSITY

Korey Reichard would once againbe atop of the leaderboard for CUAA with a fifth place finish with a 893 score and 223.3 pin average. Jeffrey Lizewski ended with a 12th place finish and a total of 868 pins while averaging 217.  Brenden Gossman finished in third for the Cardinal's with a 204.5 average and 818 pins. 

 

Logan Teubert would go on to bowl three games for the team with a 167 average and 501 score. David Schaberg and Patrick Good both bowled two games with a 365 and 342 total pins respectively. The final bowler would be Alexander Bumpus in his sole game knocked over 165 pins. 

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

The top finisher for the JV Cardinal team would be Spencer Mosher with 765 pins and averaging 191.3 pins. Hunter Fletcher bowled a 757, being second on the JV team. The third finisher for the team was Caleb Gard with 687 pins. Marek Bernhardt would bowled a 625 4-game series. 

 

OVERALL WINNERS

Lawrence Tech would once again take home the crown knocking over 7402 total pins while completing the sweep on the weekend. For the individual winner Brendan Kasa with an average of 228.8 pins.

The Cardinals will head to the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference next weekend, Saturday, October 5th at the Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan.
