(Marion, IN) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Marian on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference contest. The Cardinals entered the match 2-4 overall while the Knights came in 4-3-2. CUAA battled hard in the game but fell 5-1 as time expired.
Kyri Wixom played a complete game in goal for Concordia, making 9 saves. Austin Corona took the first shot on goal for the Cardinals as the team looked for a goal early. Kyri Wixom made back-to-back saves early in the 8th and 9th minutes, but Marian began to find the back of the net with 3 goals. CUAA trailed 3-0 at halftime.
The Cardinals threatened with two corner kicks in the second half. Concordia managed to break the shutout in the 66th minute when Austin Corona fired a shot through the defense and into the net. However, Marian answered with two more goals and came away with a 5-1 win.
Concordia will play next on Saturday, September 25 when they begin WHAC conference play at Rochester. The game is set to start at 3:30pm.
