Men's Soccer defeated by Mount Vernon Nazarene

(Mount Vernon, OH) – Concordia men's soccer continued their road trip on Saturday, heading down to Ohio to take on the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars. The Cardinals kept the game within reach, trailing by just a goal up into the 73rd minute of the contest, but eventually would fall to the Cougars, 4-0.

 

Kyri Wixom started in goal for Concordia, making 13 saves. Alexander Valencia pushed the offense forward early, firing a shot on goal in the 20th minute of play. Wixom was great in the net throughout the first half, recording an impressive 9 saves within the first 38 minutes of action and shutting the door on the Cougars. However, Mount Vernon was able to convert a goal in the 39th minute and would hold a 1-0 lead heading into the break. 

 

Bryce Ferrin tried getting the Cardinal offense going in the 2nd half, getting a shot on target and forcing a Cougars save in the 61st minute of play. Wixom continued to be stellar, coming through with 4 more saves before the Cougars were able to slot home three goals in the dying minutes of the contest to finish off the game with a 4-0 margin. 

 

Concordia will play their next game this Wednesday, September 14th at 3pm at Ohio Christian.
