Men's Soccer downed at home against Aquinas

 

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's soccer hosted Aquinas for their WHAC conference opener on Saturday afternoon.  Both teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, but the Saints pulled away on offense in the second half for a 5-0 win.

 

Kyri Wixom played a complete game in goal, recording 7 saves.  Wixom notched a save in the 4th minute and the Cardinal defense weathered several Aquinas corner kicks.  Concordia generated several chances on offense when Alexander Valencia fired a shot just wide of the net and took 2 corner kicks.  Chandler Wilson fired a shot in goal in the final minute of the half, but the score remained 0-0.

Aquinas broke the tie in the 48th minute and went on to add 4 more goals in the second half.  Raul Elizondo took a corner kick in the 62nd minute and later fired a shot high of the goal.  Chandler Wilson added a shot attempt just to the left of the goal, but Aquinas claimed the 5-0 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will remain at home this Wednesday, September 28 to host Indiana Tech at 1pm.
