Men's Soccer downed on the road at Calvin

(Grand Rapids, MI) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Calvin on Friday evening for a non-conference matchup.  The Cardinals looked to spoil the Knights' homecoming celebrations, but Calvin came away with a 4-0 win.

Ryan Webb played a complete game in goal, racking up 14 saves.  Webb remained sharp with multiple saves early on as Calvin attacked the Concordia goal.  The Knights eventually converted in the 22nd minute to break the shutout.  Nyle Ellis fired a low shot on goal for the Cardinals, but the team trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Calvin added 3 more goals in the second half to extend their lead.  The Cardinals continued to weather the Knights' attack as Ryan Webb added more saves and the defense worked to clear the ball while blocking some shots.  Concordia earned several free kicks late in the game, but Calvin took the 4-0 win as time expired.

The Cardinals will stay on the road tomorrow when they travel to rival Siena Heights at 4pm.
