Men's Track and Field sets PRs at SVSU Classic

(University Center, MI) - The Men's Track and Field team competed at the SVSU Classic at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, January 13. The team earned 3 new collegiate marks and 2 personal records.

 

In throwing events William Hall led the way with a big personal record throw of 11.71 meters. Joshua Wood also competed in Weight Throw and had a distance of 9.13 meters.

 

In Shot Put, Hall made his collegiate debut with a throw of 10.65 meters. Hall finished just ahead of teammate Scott Smith who had a distance of 10.36 meters.

 

Zak Schroeder earned a personal record in Long Jump with a distance of 18' 2 ".

 

On the track, Schroeder and Noah Starkey made their collegiate debuts in the 300. Starkey finished in 37.22, while Schroeder finished in a time of 39.34. They both also competed in the 200, and Starkey finished in sixth place with a time of 23.07. While Schroeder finished in a time of 25.24.

 

Smith competed in the 60-dash prelims and finished in a time of 7.75 seconds.

 

Adam Fisch and Avery Sanchez represented the distance and mid-distance groups. Fisch made his collegiate debut in the 800 meters and finished in a time of 2:25. Sanchez ran his first 800 of the season and finished in 2:13. Sanchez also competed in the 3000 meters and ran a time of 10:16.

 

The Men's team will be back at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, January 20 for the Doug Hansen Invitational.
