Men's Track and Field competes at the Doug Hansen Invitational

(University Center, MI) - The Men's Track and Field team returned to Saginaw Valley for the Doug Hansen Invitational on Friday, January 20. The Cardinals earned 4 personal records and 2 new collegiate marks.

A good day for the distance crew led the way for the Cardinals. As Avery Sanchez and Theodore Eising competed in the 3000 meters. Sanchez achieved a personal record with a 10-second improvement. Sanchez finished in a total time of 9:58. Eising made his return to the track this season and finished in a time of 9:56, just one second off of a personal record.

Adam Fisch made his collegiate debut in the mile, while also competing in the 800. Fisch had a total mile time of 5:19 while setting a personal record in 800 with a time of 2:24.

Noah Starkey had a personal best time in the 200 meters with a time of 22.94 with an overall improvement of .8 seconds. Starkey and Scott Smith both competed in the 60-meter dash as well. Starkey finished in a time of 7.35, while Smith finished in 7.62.

Zak Schroeder made his collegiate appearance in a 400 with a finishing time of 55.56 seconds. Schroeder also competed in the 200 and finished in 24.99 seconds.

In field events, Schroeder set a new personal record in the long jump, with a distance of 5.68 meters.

Zach Belinksy, Smith, and Will Hall competed in the shot putt. Belinsky led the group with a throw of 11.67 meters. Smith finished right behind with a distance of 11.05 meters. Hall had a final distance of 9.89 meters.

Hall led the way in the weight throw however with a distance of 12.49 meters. The Cardinals placed three more athletes right after Hall. As Belinsky, Josh Wood, and Smith finished in 10 through 13 places. Belinsky threw a distance of 12.26 meters, followed by Wood with a distance of 9.55 meters and Smith with a distance of 9.48 meters.

The team will be back in action on Saturday, January 28 at Hillsdale College for the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic.
