Women's Basketball falls to #7 Marian

(Indianapolis, IN) – Concordia women's basketball traveled to Marian on Wednesday evening for a non-conference match.  The Cardinals continued to fight throughout the game, but the Knights claimed the 67-46 win.

Asaria Turman led the team with 9 points.  Samantha Dorn was second with 8 points while tying Keirslynn Lawless for a team-high 6 rebounds.

 

Monae Palmer ended a 12-0 Marian run by converting an old-fashioned three-point play.  Julia Hirt added two free throws and Asaria Turman powered for a basket in the paint.  Marian led 18-7 after the first quarter.

Samantha Dorn knocked down a triple to open the second quarter.  Asaria Turman remained a force with three more inside baskets.  Emily McCalla and Zaria Mitcher chipped in free throws, but Marian continued to respond offensively and led 39-18 at halftime.

 

Izzy Viau opened the third quarter with a layup.  Ellie Kallner drove for a basket and Julia Hirt dropped in a 3-pointer.  Izzy Viau also drained a triple and Keirslynn Lawless had a strong basket in the paint.  Samantha Dorn added a quick drive and CUAA trailed 57-34 after the 3rd.

Samantha Dorn drilled a 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter.  Keirslynn Lawless and Zaria Mitchner both recorded layups and Julia Hirt scored off the high glass.  Lawless splashed in a 3-pointer with just over a minute to go with Izzy Hadley drawing the assist.  Marian would claim the 76-46 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will play next at Indiana East this Friday at 2pm.
