Women's Bowling competes at Kegel Collegiate Classic

(Addison, IL) - The Concordia Women's Bowling team opened up the 2023 season with their first tournament of the new year as they traveled west to Illinois to compete at the Kegel Collegiate Classic at the Stardust Lanes. 

 

The team as a whole would finish in 20th place by knocking down a total of 8,117 pins over the two-day event. 

 

CARDINALS RESULTS

The top bowler for the Cardinals over the event would be Gabriella VanHorn as she finished in 23rd place with a total score of 972. Brooke Binder would fall 15 pins back of VanHorn and finish in 31st place with 957 pins. The third finisher for the Cards was Kyla Peterson with a score of 925 and a 46th-place finish. The final two bowlers for the team were Emilee Hughes and Shannon Geiger, as Hughes would finish in 48th place with 922 pins and Geiger would total 869 pins. 

 

ENTERING THE RECORD BOOKS

The team for the event would enter the record books as the team series average of 929 would go in as the 5th highest 5-game average.

 

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER

The team Championship was announced following the 20 baker games on Sunday as the University of Pikeville came away with the win after hitting 8,884 pins. 

 

The individual champion was announced on Saturday following the 5-game series as Brianna Rogers from Pikeville with a total of 1,175 pins.

The Cardinals will have another couple of weeks break and will return to the lanes on February 4th as they head to the fourth and final WHAC Jamboree of the season at the Southwick Bowling Lanes in Toledo, Ohio.
