Cardinals fall 6-4 to Spartans

(Lansing, MI) The Cardinals fell to the Spartans from Michigan State in a hard-fought game at Michigan State University on Friday night.

The first period did not start out well for the Cardinals. The Spartans scored within the first five minutes of the game. This goal was followed by two more five and ten minutes later. That would bring the first period to an end with a score of 3-0.

Starting the second period the Cardinals would not back down. Sydney Schuyler would pick up a rebound from Dodgson and drill the puck into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. Two minutes later Dodgson would pass the puck to the point where Mackenzie Smith was waiting. Smith sniped the goalie for the Cardinal's second goal of the game. Michigan State would answer two minutes later with a goal of their own. Their celebration was short-lived. Five minutes after the Spartan goal Dodgson would dangle from coast to coast around the defense landing the puck in the net. The Cardinals didn't stop there. Two minutes later the Cardinals would be gifted a power play where Kassidy Scheben would set Schuyler up for her second goal of the night. This would end the second period with a tie score of 4-4.

The third period had the Spartans scoring within the first five minutes. Concordia fought hard but the Spartans tallied another goal with three minutes left in the game. Concordia couldn't answer ending the game with a score of 6-4.

The Cardinals look for redemption as they face the Spartans again tomorrow night in Chelsea.
