Women's Hockey falls to Adrian, 6-2

(Adrian, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Hockey team got back on the ice on Saturday after over a week with no games as they traveled to Adrian College for a rematch of their October 6th game against Adrian. The Bulldogs would wind up coming away with the 6-2 win.

 

The Cardinals would fall to 2-3 overalls and 1-3 in CCHWA play.

 

1st Period - Concordia 2, Adrian 2

Throughout the first period, the two teams would battle back and forth as they fought for the lead. The Cardinals would ultimately strike first in the game, five minutes in, off the stick of Makayla Steinmetz who would put one in the back of the net, with an assist going to Emma Shore. The Bulldogs though would not let the lead stick for long as they tied it after two-and-a-half minutes of play. 

 

Later in the period, Adrianna Rugiero would tally a goal herself after getting a pass from Melanie Foucha at the 13:41 mark. A couple of minutes later though the Cards would see the lead diminish again following another Bulldog score.

 

2nd Period - Adrian 5, Concordia 2

The Cardinals would go into the second period with the score tied until the nine-minute mark as the Bulldogs would score the first of their three goals of the period. Adrian would score twice more in the period as the Cardinals would only tally five shots throughout the second period.

 

3rd Period - Adrian 6, Concordia 2

Scoring once in the period Adrian would be the final goal of the game when they put one in the back of the net at the 12:14 mark. CUAA would record nine shots in the period.

 

Amanda Crundwell played the full 60 minutes in goal for the Cardinals as she would have 44 saves over the 50 shots faced. 

 

The Cardinals head back to the ice on Friday, October 21 as they will go up against UM-Dearborn with a 3 PM puck drop.
