Women's Hockey drops road contest against Warriors

(Fort Wayne, IN) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Hockey team was back in action after a week off with a CCWHA contest against west pod member Indiana Tech. The Warriors got off to a fast start, scoring 4 goals in the first and finishing with an 11-2 victory in the contest.

The Cardinals dropped to 3-5-0 overall and 2-5-0 in CCHWA play.

1st Period - Indiana Tech 4, Concordia 1

The Indiana Tech Warriors got off to a fast start, scoring a pair of goals in the first 3:13 of play and a 3rd less than 9 minutes in. Less than a minute after their third strike, though, the Cardinals would bounce back with a score of their own.

Makayla Steinmetz would get CUAA on the scoresheet, firing a shot past the goalie to make it 3-1. Jenna Peet and Aaliyah James were credited with assists on the score. Not long after, the Warriors found the net for the 4th time in the frame, and held onto that lead until the intermission.

2nd Period - Indiana Tech 7, Concordia 2

Indiana Tech would open the period with another pair of goals in the first half of the frame to extend the lead to 5, before Reagan Tolley would take a feed from Mallory Collins and beat the Warrior goaltender to get the second score of the contest for CUAA.

With under two minutes to go in the period, Indiana Tech picked up two more scores, securing a 7-2 lead headed into the break.

3rd Period - UM-Dearborn 11, Concordia 2

The Warriors would go onto score 4 more goals in the final period of play, this time without rebuttal, as they took home an 11-2 win.

Amanda Crundwell and Kaitlyn Audet split time in net for CUAA, making a combined 28 saves in the contest.

The Cardinals are back at home tomorrow night when they take on these same Indiana Tech Warriors in a rematch. Puck drop is set for 8:30 PM at the Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea, MI.
