Women's Hockey falls in high-scoring contest against Michigan State
(Chelsea, MI) – Concordia women's hockey hosted Michigan State for a Friday evening contest.  The high-scoring game saw the Cardinals generate lots of offense, including a single-game program record four goals from Mallory Collins, but the Spartans claimed the 8-6 win. 

 

Molly Burks played a complete game in net, notching 23 saves.  Concordia struck first when Mallory Collins scored off assists from Makayla Steinmetz and Emma Shore.  The Cardinals went ahead 2-0 off another marker from Collins assisted by Steinmetz and Nicole Koops.  Michigan State countered with 2 goals later in the period to tie the match 2-2. 

The Spartans continued their momentum with three more goals, but the Cardinals rallied to tie the game.  Mallory Collins started the rally with an unassisted goal to complete her hat trick.  Madelyne Petrie then scored on a quick shot with an assist by Grace DodgsonMallory Collins' fourth goal of the game assisted by Dodgson and Jenna Peet tied the game 5-5 after the second period. 

Michigan State added two more goals to pull ahead in the third period.  Grace Dodgson pulled the Cardinals within one with helpers by Jenna Peet and Skylar Croft.  Concordia pulled their goalie in the final minutes as they looked for the equalizer, but the Spartans were able to add an empty-net marker to claim the hard-fought win. 

 

Concordia will travel to Michigan State this Sunday at 10:45am.
