Late surge propels Cardinals past Rochester in comeback win

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Women's Soccer team played their final home match of the season Friday afternoon as they hosted the Warriors from Rochester. The Cardinals celebrated senior day, honoring their nine seniors at halftime. The Cardinals suffered a goal within the first four minutes, but Concordia

 

 

The Cardinals started off the game by getting all nine of their seniors a touch on the ball.

 

Three minutes into the game, Teagan Betzold found Jenna Schodowski in the box for a goal early on.

 

One of the Cardinal's best opportunities was off of a free kick just outside of the box which Isabel Stropich missed just a few feet high.

 

Just before the half Andrea Foster came up with a huge defensive save to keep it a one score game.

 

The Warriors came out aggressive in the second half, but were unable to beat Jacobson early.

 

Megan Starkey made a run past two defenders before she was fouled just outside of the box. Stropich took the free kick and narrowly missed high.

 

In the 79th minute, Starkey found Katelyn Aiello down the right wing who brought the ball inside to find Isabel Stropich. Stropich struck the ball from just over 20 yards out to curl it past the Warrior keeper and even things up.

 

Just four minutes later Taia Vega switched the ball over to Isabella Elsey who shot and scored what would be the game winning goal for the Cardinals.

 

 

Next up for the Cardinals will be a match at UNOH Wednesday, October 26th.
