Women's Track & Field finishes 16th at NCCAA National Championships

(Cedarville, OH) Concordia women's track and field competed Friday and Saturday at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships in Cedarville, OH, hosted by Cedarville University. The NCCAA is comprised of NCAA DII, DIII and NAIA schools. Concordia finished 16th of 22 teams. 

 

With a strong field of female throwers, freshman Lena Korte (Clinton, MI) broke her own school record in the shot put, tossing 11.83m (38'9 3/4"). This throw also added three points to the team score. Korte also competed in the weight throw, coming in 13th with a throw of 12.04m (39'6"). 

 

Also adding points was junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) who cleared 1.47m (4'9 3/4") in the high jump for a 7th place finish. Stechebar also competed in the triple jump for a 10th place finish with a jump of 9.20m (30'2 1/4").

 

On the track side, the women's 4x800 team also secured a 7th place finish with a time of 11:02.73. The relay was comprised of Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH), Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI), Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI), and Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI). Porter went on to also run in the 800m, where she clocked a time of 2:30.70 for a 12th place finish.

 

Cardinals track & field resumes competition on Friday, February 18 for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in Grand Rapids, MI at Aquinas College. Keep up with the Cardinals by follow the team on social media - CUAAXCTF.
