Track & Field competes at NCCAA Championships
(Greeneville, IL) Concordia women's track & field competed this week at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) championships hosted by Greenville University. The Cardinals placed 12th out of 24 teams.

 

The 4x800m relay team, comprised of Madelyn Ankoviak (Sanford, MI), Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI), Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH) and Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI), raced to a 7th place finish with a time of 12:15.73 and picked up two points for the Cardinals.

 

Senior Emily Belinsky (Beulah, MI) crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 16.59 in the 100m hurdles. Belinsky also ran 28.66 in the 200m dash. Freshman Julia Hirt (Hartland, WI) competed in the discus throw, tossing 35.29m.

 

Throwing a new school record and taking 5th, senior Hayle Flowers (Waverly, MI) had a series of strong throws with the javelin to finish with a throw of 33.37m, bettering the school record by almost two meters. Fellow thrower Hailey Stasiukinas (Freshman; Wyoming, MI) threw 28.99m with the javelin. Flowers and Stasiukinas ran together in the 4x100m relay with Belinsky and Hope Renfer (Northville, MI) running 53.17 for an 8th place finish, a number two all-time at Concordia. 

 

Junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) competed in the High Jump and Triple Jump events. Stechebar jumped 9.76m in the triple jump for an 8th place finish.

 

Graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) competed in both the 3,000m steeplechase and 1,500m race. Porter placed 7th in the 1,500m race with a time of 5:13.63.

 

Closing out the meet was the 4x400 relay with Renfer, Stechebar, Trent and Schroeder. The relay team raced to a 7th place, crossing the line in a time of 4:30.75.
