(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia volleyball traveled to Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening for a WHAC conference matchup. The Cardinals entered 7-9 overall (3-3 WHAC) while the Warriors came in 9-8 on the year (5-1 WHAC). CUAA competed hard but fell in straight sets.
Kayla Peters led Concordia with 6 kills while tying Kaitlin Veihl with 1 block apiece. Abigail Austin had a team-high 19 assists and 12 digs.
Set 1 – IT 25, CUAA 12
Madalyn Lisman had Concordia's first kill followed by a game-tying kill from Andrea Nelson to make the score 4-4. Indiana Tech pulled away with a 9-0 run midway through the set. Despite some late kills down the stretch by Abigail Austin and Breann June, Indiana Tech took set 1.
Set 2 – IT 25, CUAA 21
Kaitlin Veihl had the first Cardinal kill in set 2. Madalyn Lisman notched an early kill and Abigail Austin added a service ace. Jessalyn Peavyhouse added a kill and the teams battled to an 11-11 tie. While Indiana Tech attack errors helped the Cardinals to pull to a 24-21 deficit late in the set, Indiana Tech was able to claim the win in set 2.
Set 3 – IT 25, CUAA 18
Kayla Peters had Concordia's first kill in set 3. Peters added two more kills along with one from Jessalyn Peavyhouse, and the Cardinals took an 11-10 lead early in the set. A set of back-to-back kills from Kayla Peters kept Concordia in front, but Indiana Tech slowly surged into the lead. Paige Staton recorded a late service ace, but Indiana Tech finished the game in set 3.
Concordia will play their next game on Friday, October 1 when they travel to Lourdes. The game is set to begin at 7pm.
