Three Cardinals honored by NCCAA on the All-Region Team

(Ann Arbor, MI) The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their regional volleyball awards on Tuesday and three Cardinals were recognized. Abigail Austin and Kayla Peters were all named to the NCCAA D1 Midwest All-Regional Team and Head Coach Danielle Cook was named the region's Coach of the Year. 

 

Sophomore Kayla Peters was among the leaders in the NCCAA in total kills throughout the season tallying 411. Overall in the NCCAA Peters was sixth in kills and eighth in kills per set. She also recorded 372 digs which were third-best on the team. 

 

Sophomore Abigail Austin was in the top four in the NCCAA in assists throughout the season collecting 1151, averaging 9.59 assists per set. Austin also added on 408 digs on the season which was second-best on the team. Austin was named NCCAA Player of the Week once during the season. 

 

Head Coach Danielle Cook has been at the helm for four years now and has now made the WHAC Tournament for the second straight season. This year's team won 14 games throughout the season, the highest during Cook's tenure and the highest for the program since 2016.
