Volleyball drops match to Indiana Tech, 3-0

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Volleyball returned home for the final time of the 2022 season as they would face a big test against the Warriors from Indiana Tech University. The Warriors would enter the match as the third team in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with a WHAC record of 13-5, while the Cardinals entered tied for 8th with a WHAC record of 6-12.

 

The Cardinals would be led by Claudia Grepke with 13 kills, Madeline Vnuk with 14 assists, McKenzie Peters tallying 14 digs and Megan Neumann with a total of four blocks. 

 

Set 1 - Indiana Tech 25, Concordia 23

The Warriors would go up 3-0 in the set before an attack error gave the Cards their first point. Breann June tallied the first kill for the Cards. Despite a 5-point run from IIT, the Cards would fight their way back through, as they would tally points to get the score to within 21-18 on a service ace from Abigail Austin. Back-to-back errors from the Warriors would tie the score at 23 before IIT would get two points for the set win. 

 

Set 2 - Indiana Tech 25, Concordia 17

The second set saw a kill from Kayla Peters to begin the set. A six-point stretch from Indiana Tech would give them the lead. Claudia Grepke would add a kill in there for the Cardinals. CUAA would get the score within five with another kill from Grepke and Kayla Peters. The Warrior attack would prove to be too much as they would take the second set 25-17.

 

Set 3 - Indiana Tech 25, Concordia 17

The third set would see the Warriors jump out to a 12-3 lead before the Cards attempted a comeback. Kills from K. Peters, Grepke, and Jessalyn Peavyhouse would aid CUAA to a 6-1 run themselves. Once again the IIT attack would give the Warriors a huge lead in order to pull out the three-set victory.

 

The Cardinals will end the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Rochester for a first serve at 1 PM, and will look to make a final playoff push.
