Women's Cross Country concludes season at WHAC Championships

(Fort Wayne, IN) Concordia women's cross country competed Saturday November 6 at the WHAC Championships, hosted by Indiana Tech. The Donald Ross Golf Course was home to the 5k race and featured a relatively flat course. With fierce WHAC competition, Concordia posted an 10th place finish. In addition, Senior Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI) was named the Champion of Character and head coach Allison Unger was named the Champion of Character coach for all of the women's teams.

 

Graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) was first to cross the finish line for the Cardinals and ran a season best time of 19:31.6. Coming in second for Concordia was Trent, who posted a time of 20:57.6, a huge personal best for the senior runner.

 

The Cardinals continued to see success with a number of other personal bests at the meet. Sophomore Megan Espinoza (Manistique, MI) ran a time of 21:10.0, a personal best for her. Fellow sophomore Anna Glomski (Kalamazoo, MI) finished in a time of 21:52.8. Freshman Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI) ran a personal best in the 5k, running 22:31.9. Wrapping up the personal bests in the meet was senior captain Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH) who crossed the finish line in a time of 22:37.5.

 

Lastly, running her first cross country meet today was senior Payton Lovins (Wauseon, OH) who finished in a time of 40:25.2.

 

This concludes the cross country season for the Cardinals. The team will take a brief hiatus before getting ready for the indoor track & field season opener on Friday, December 3 at the University of Findlay.
