(Adrian, MI) - The Women's Cross Country team traveled to compete at the Siena Heights Invitational on Friday, September 27. The team used ideal running conditions and a fast course to earn multiple improvements throughout the team. The Cardinals finished seventh overall as a team with 177 points.
The team saw a great effort by Grace Finley (Sophomore; Monroe, MI), who ran her best time at 28:34. Finley improved her time by over two and a half minutes. Also earning personal bests in the race were Chloe Gunter (Senior; Monroe, MI) and Jenna Oberly (Sophomore; Dearborn, MI). Gunter improved by 42 seconds, while Oberly improved by nine seconds.
The team also had five athletes run season-best times on the course. The group was led by Macee Ripke (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH), who led the team with a finishing time of 27:38. Ripke saw a 10-second improvement from her race two weeks ago. Michaela Kurth (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) pushed through for a 40-second season improvement with a final time of 28:42. Rachael Byers (Sophomore; Plymouth, MI) ran a 49-second improvement with a finishing time of 29:02. Finally, Alison Doerr (Junior; Grand Haven, MI) ran her season-best time of 29:39.
The team will look to continue the momentum of the Bethel Invite in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday, October 11.
