Men's Hockey falls against #23 Purdue Northwest

(Canton, MI) – Concordia men's hockey hosted Purdue Northwest on Friday night to continue their season.  The Cardinals held a 1-0 lead through the first half of the contest, but the Pride came back for a 5-3 win. 

 

Anthony Seykora started in goal, making 18 saves.  Brayden Tayles won the opening faceoff and the Cardinals stayed on the attack early.  Quinn Bieniek put Concordia ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal just under 3 minutes into the contest.  Both teams traded powerplay chances in the period and CUAA led 1-0 at the first intermission. 

Brayden Tayles won the first faceoff in the second period.  The Cardinals had two powerplay chances including a five-on-three, but the lead remained 1-0.  Purdue Northwest managed to break through with two goals late in the period and CUAA trailed 2-1 after the 2nd. 

Brayden Tayles secured the opening faceoff in the third period.  The Pride extended their lead with two more goals, going up 4-1.  Zachary Janis came into man the goal, recording 3 saves. 

The Cardinals got on the board when Kyle Hebner scored from the side of the net off assists from Jackson Blough and Brandon Troyer.  Both teams traded goals with Shane Romback scoring a powerplay goal on a slapshot with assists by Bryce Iott and Carson Ediger.  The Cardinals pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but the Pride took the 5-3 win as time expired. 

 

The Cardinals will travel to Purdue Northwest for a rematch tomorrow at 5:30pm.
