Men's Hockey falls at home to Lawrence Tech

(Canton, MI) — Concordia Men's Hockey fell to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 8-2 in a tough matchup Saturday night at Arctic Edge Ice Arena.

 

Lawrence Tech set the tone early, with Jacques Lavrack scoring unassisted just 25 seconds into the game. He struck again at 3:34, assisted by Lahoussine Salama. The Cardinals responded at 8:08 when Kyle Hebner, assisted by McCarthy Clark, found the back of the net to cut the deficit. The Blue Devils regained momentum when Lukas Robinson scored 17:38, closing the first period with a 3-1 lead. 

 

Lawrence Tech extended their lead quickly in the second, with Lavrack completing his hat trick just 11 seconds into the period. Carter Krohn and Lavrack added goals later in the frame, with Lavrack's fourth coming on a power play. Concordia managed to break through at 10:34 when Garrett Benoit scored, assisted by Joseph Lajcaj, but the Cardinals trailed 6-2 heading into the final period. 

 

Despite an improved offensive effort in the third, the Cardinals couldn't overcome Lawrence Tech's defense, led by goaltender Brett Tome. The Blue Devils added goals from Joshua Hixson and Nicholas Ceccarini to seal the 8-2 victory. 

 

Concordia outshot Lawrence Tech 34-28 but struggled on the power play, going 0-for-4. Meanwhile, Lawrence Tech capitalized on one of its five opportunities. Anthony Seykora and Nolan Foster split time in goal for Concordia, both recording 10 saves each.

 

The game featured 15 penalties, totaling 33 minutes. Both teams had multiple infractions, with the Cardinals committing a head-butting penalty in the third and Lawrence Tech receiving a major penalty for roughing. 

 

The Cardinals return to action next year, battling Michigan-Dearborn on the road at UMD Fieldhouse. Puck drop at 7:00 PM on January 10th.
