David Wohlberg

David Wohlberg will enter his fifth season as the Head Coach of the Cardinal's Men's Hockey program. Wohlberg was named the second coach in Concordia men's ice hockey history in May of 2019, following his time as a program assistant with the University of Michigan men's ice hockey program. 

The 2022-23 season saw the team hit new heights as the team won the most games in program history (19), and made a run in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament. The Cardinals won their first two games of the tournament beating Aquinas, for the fifth time this season, in an exciting overtime game, before pulling off an upset over the host and #7-ranked Indiana Tech by a score of 4-1. The Cardinals magical run would end in the WHAC Championship game falling to #18 UM-Dearborn by a score of 4-1. 

In the 2021-22 season, earned notable recognition, with three players making All-Conference teams and an additional one being named the WHAC Newcomer of the Year. Wohlberg was named the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Coach of the Year and led the Cardinals to the conference tournament semifinals, where they would eventually lose in overtime.

Wohlberg graduated from the University of Michigan in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in General Studies. During his time at Michigan, Wohlberg played four years of varsity hockey and appeared in 162 games, accumulating 111 points (56 goals, 55 assists) as a forward. During his junior campaign, the Wolverines reached the NCAA Frozen Four championship game before falling to Minnesota-Duluth in overtime.

Prior to serving as a program assistant for the Wolverines, Wohlberg experienced an extensive and successful playing career. The New Jersey Devils drafted Wohlberg in the 6th round of the NHL Draft and maintained his rights throughout his time as a Wolverine. Wohlberg made his pro hockey debut skating in six games for New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Albany and would remain under contract from 2012-2015. Wohlberg's professional career would continue for another three years with minor league and international experiences in Charlotte, N.C., Germany, and France.

After his professional playing career concluded, Wohlberg joined men's ice hockey coaching staff at the University of Michigan. Wohlberg served as a program assistant with the Wolverines during the 2018 season. During this time as a member of Head Coach Mel Pearson's staff, Wohlberg covered a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including administrative duties, game film and stats, player development and recruiting.
