Fleming and Kleinfelter named NAIA All-Americans

(Kansas City, MO) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their All-American teams on Tuesday afternoon and two Cardinals were placed on the Second-Team list as Drew Fleming and Tyson Kleinfelter were both honored.

Fleming, a junior from Davison, Michigan, was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year after a stellar season where he led the team with 27 home runs on the season while also bringing in 79 RBIs. Fleming's slash line on the year was .358/.465/.797 (AVG/OBP/SLG). His 27 home runs were third-most in the NAIA this season.

Kleinfelter, a graduate student from Perrysburg, Ohio, also earned top WHAC honors after being named the Pitcher of the Year in the conference. Kleinfelter sported an 11-1 record on the season and ends his career atop of the Cardinal's career records in wins, strikeouts, and appearances. In the 2023 season, he earned an earned run average (ERA) of 2.77 with 103 strikeouts. His 11 wins are second-most in the NAIA this season.

Fleming and Kleinfelter are the first Cardinals to receive All-American honors as Jake Pawlak (2003), Steve Hardin (2005), Blaine Milheim (2019), and Grant Steinborn (2019) were all named to the NAIA Honorable Mention list.
