WEEK 10 GAME NOTES: Football hosts Saint Francis for Senior Day
 
 

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia football will be preparing to celebrate Senior Day this week as they conclude their season with a home contest against Saint Francis.  The Cardinals won their second straight game with a 58-13 victory over Madonna last week.  The Cougars are coming off a 24-19 loss against Lawrence Tech.  While Saint Francis leads the all-time series 8-3, the Cardinals have won the past two meetings and 3 of the last 4 games.

Saint Francis at a glance 

The Cougars enter the matchup with a 4-5 record.  The team started 2-0 with wins over Saint Francis (IL) and Judson, also downing Madonna and Taylor later in the year.  The Cougars averaged 50 points per game in their victories, but they find themselves in a battle with the Cardinals to finish .500 on the year.  Legendary coach Kevin Donley enters his 25th season at the helm. 

 

Player of the Week Honors 

Seeger DeGayner earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors at the MSFA level.  The junior wide receiver broke an 84-yard kickoff return in the team's 58-13 win over Madonna last week.  DeGayner added 3 punt returns for 42 yards as well. 

David Cagle was named Defensive Player of the Week at the NCCAA level.  The sophomore defensive end tied for a team-leading 7 tackles against Madonna to pace the defense.  Cagle added 2 sacks on the day. 

 

NAIA Coaches Poll 

Indiana Wesleyan and Marian remained #5 and #7 respectively in the NAIA Coaches Poll.  In the MSFA Midwest, Saint Xavier dropped one spot to #12.  Saint Francis (IL) climbed six spots to #19 after a 19-3 win over Roosevelt, who fell eight spots to #24.
