Men's Basketball drops first contest of year to Grace

(Winona, IN) The Concordia University men's basketball team traveled to Indiana for their first away game of the season as they competed in the first game of the Grace Tip-off Classic. The Cardinals came into the game with a 1-0 record while this was the Lancers first game of the season. 

 

Colton Ritsema started the game off early as he scored the first two baskets of the game for the Cardinals to make it 6-7. Throughout the next five minutes both teams battled back and forth trying to take advantage in the game.

 

Zackary Johnson and Thomas Hronis would both add a couple of layups to keep CUAA close. Over the next couple minutes the Lancers would go on a run to start to add on to their lead. The final five minutes of the half saw Zac Clark, Jayden Priddy, Colton Ritsema, and Devyn Jones tack on points before the half. 

 

Zackary Johnson started off the second half with a three pointer of his own for his second basket of the game. Grace would continue to add onto their lead throughout the second half. The final 10 minutes would see some production off the bench from the Cards. Matt Kohler, Evan Neff, Nate Brighton and Mason Canfield would all provide three point baskets. WHile Abeal Ayalew and Zac Clark would add points as well.

 

The Cards will be back in action on Saturday, October 30 as they will face off against Trinity International with a 11 am tipoff.
