(Dearborn, MI) – Concordia men's basketball traveled to UM-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC road tilt. The Cardinals battled through a tight first half and pulled away in the second to claim a double-digit win.
Zac Clark had a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jayden Priddy was second with 15 points. Devyn Jones and Zackary Johnson had 13 points apiece. Matt Lockhart had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Zac Clark opened scoring with a layup. Matt Lockhart scored inside and Zackary Johnson knocked down a triple. Kip French converted an "and-1" and Devyn Jones hit a triple for a 13-7 lead. A basket inside from Matt Lockhart put the Cardinals ahead 18-9.
Devyn Jones added two free throws and Nathan Pickett scored after a solid cut inside, but an 11-2 run by UMD trimmed the lead to 22-20. Zac Clark ended the run with a layup and Zackary Johnson and Jayden Priddy both nailed triples. UM-Dearborn briefly pulled ahead late in the half, but an "and-1" from Zac Clark and a triple from Matt Lockhart kept CUAA ahead 42-40 at halftime.
Kip French hit a 3-pointer to start the second half. Zac Clark added two free throws and a layup. Zackary Johnson hit a triple and two baskets from Jayden Priddy put the Cardinals ahead 57-52.
Zac Clark and Devyn Jones continued to converted inside as Concordia built their lead. Free throws from Matt Lockhart, Jones and Zackary Johnson helped to keep a double-digit advantage. Nate Brighton had a layup, Mason Canfield drained two free throws, and D'Angelo Stoxstill had a dunk in the final minute, clinching the Cardinal win.
Concordia will travel next to Cornerstone this Tuesday at 7:30pm.
