Concordia opens 2021-22 season at Lourdes Invitational

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University Cardinals men's golf team began their 2021-2022 season Tuesday morning as they traveled to Ottawa Lake, MI to compete at the 2021 Lourdes Invitational. The invite featured a total of ten teams including seven other Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference teams (Siena Heights, Cleary, Lourdes, Michigan-Dearborn, Cornerstone, Rochester and Northwestern Ohio).

 

The Cardinals finished tied for eighth place with a team score of 334.

 

Neil Heinlein, in his first appearance for Concordia, paced the way for the Cards as he hit the ninth-lowest score recorded in CUAA history with a +4, 76 which was good enough for a tie for sixth place. Nick Althouse finished in a seven-way tie for 17th with a score of 79. Rounding out the scorers for Concordia were Dalton Stiegler and Zach Burk with scores of 89 and 90 respectively. Also competing for CUAA were Gibson Wilke and Andrew Burk who tallied scores of 84 and 97 respectively. 

 

Siena Heights won the event with a team score of 304, while Cleary and Lourdes finished tied for second with a score of 313. Mike Kee from Cleary won the invite by three shots with a final score of 71 and finished 1-under in the morning. 

 

The Cardinals will return to the links next Monday as they will compete at the Bill Bockwitz Classic in East Lansing, MI.
