Men's Soccer falls to Cornerstone in WHAC play, 3-0

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University men's soccer team returned home to play host to the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals entered the contest with a 2-7 overall record and 0-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Golden Eagles entered with a 1-7-1 record and 0-2 in WHAC play.

Neither team would be able to take a lead in the half despite multiple good looks from both sides. The Cardinal's best look of the half came in the 13th minute as Bryce Schaner was able to get a good look at the goal but was denied by the Golden Eagles goalie.

All of the scoring in the game would come in the second half as Cornerstone's Christian Galloway would score twice, and CU would also take advantage of an own goal on a deflection off a Cardinal defender. Nyle Ellis would have another opportunity in the second half but the goal was knocked away by a Golden Eagle defender.

Cardinal goalie Kyri Wixom would have a solid afternoon while saving nine shots.

The Cards will return home to Cardinal Stadium on Friday, October 1 as they will host their first WHAC game against Cornerstone with the game beginning at 4PM.
