Men's Soccer takes UNOH to overtime but falls 2-3

(Lima, OH) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to UNOH on Wednesday afternoon for a WHAC conference game.  The Cardinals came in 2-8 overall while the Racers entered with a 2-5-1 record.  CUAA kept even with UNOH during regulation, scoring two goals, but the Racers claimed a 3-2 win in overtime.

Kyri Wixom played a complete game in goal for Concordia, making 16 saves.  UNOH went on the attack early, firing a barrage of shots at the Cardinal net with Wixom recording several early saves.  Alexander Valencia had an offensive opportunity with a shot that went wide left, but UNOH got on the board first with a goal in the 38th minute.  CUAA trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Concordia evened the score in the 63rd minute when Tanguy Flachez scored off an assist from Bryce Schaner.  Flachez kicked a solid ball that curled over the goalie's head and went into the net.  UNOH went back ahead with a penalty kick goal in the 74th minute, but the Cardinals countered just over a minute later when Carl Pierce jammed in a shot off a Nyle Ellis corner kick.

The game headed to overtime tied 2-2, but UNOH was able to score just 25 seconds into the extra period to claim the win.

Concordia will return home on Friday, October 8 when they host UM-Dearborn at 4:00pm.
