Men's Soccer falls 1-0 at Kalamazoo

(Kalamazoo, MI) – Concordia men's soccer traveled west to Kalamazoo College on Tuesday evening for a non-conference matchup. The Cardinals were able to keep the contest close throughout, but an early first-half goal held up for Kalamazoo.

 

Kyri Wixom started in goal for Concordia, making 5 saves. Wixom was sharp with an early save just a few minutes in, but Kalamazoo was able to score in the 8th minute. The Cardinals weathered several Hornet attacks and threatened late with a curving free kick taken by Raul Elizondo. CUAA trailed 1-0 at halftime.

 

Kyri Wixom continued to keep the team in the game with several key saves in the second half. Concordia received a corner kick opportunity taken by Luis Ramirez in the 65th minute. Late in the half, the Cardinals earned a throw-in deep in Kalamazoo territory as the team looked to notch an equalizer. However, the Hornets were able to hold on and hand CUAA a 1-0 defeat.

 

Concordia will play their next game at Mount Vernon Nazarene this Saturday, September 10 at 3pm.
