(Greenville, IL) Cardinals Track & Field competed at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships this week in Greenville, IL hosted by Greenville University. Out of 18 teams, the men's track & field team finished 11th overall with 18 points. Kash Warren and Eric Bugg highlighted the Cardinals performances with NCCAA all-american honors.
Senior Eric Bugg (Ida, MI) competed in the men's javelin throw, hammer throw and shot put this week. Bugg earned his All-American status with a personal best of 48.12m in the hammer throw. Bugg also earned points for the Cardinals with a 7th place finish in the shot put, tossing 13.78m.
Junior Kash Warrern (Lorraine, OH) ran 10.95 for a personal best in the men's 100m dash, earning him a 3rd place finish and All-American honors.
Junior Richard Branch (Detroit, MI) competed in the men's javelin throw and shot put this week. Branch had a mighty toss of 47.76m, for a three meter personal best and a 5th place finish.
Jones also ran the men's 200m in a time of 23.75 and 53.17 in the 400m.
Grace College took home the team title with 214 points. This was the first time in many years the Cardinals participated in the championship event. The Concordia athletic department recently reinstated membership in the NCCAA giving individuals and team the opportunity for championship competition.
