Branch named NCCAA All-American in Javelin Throw

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their yearly All-American teams for Outdoor Track & Field following the NCCAA National Championships that concluded last week. Richard Branch Jr. was named to the All-America team in the Javelin throw.

Richard Branch Jr., a senior from Detroit, Michigan, placed third in the javelin throw. His first throw of the event of 52.27 meters was good enough for him to finish the event in third place. Branch had taken fifth place at the event last year, just narrowly missing out on the podium. Between his junior and senior seasons Branch was able to add another five meters to his javelin throw.

The NCCAA also released their Scholar-Athletes awards for the 2022 season as two Cardinals on the men's side earned a spot on the team. Zachary Belinski and Andrew Wiemer were the two qualifiers for the team. For the women's team, it was Emily Belinsky, Megan Espinoza, Payton Lovins, Gabriela Porter, Hope Renfer, Lydia Schroeder, and Elizabeth Trent who qualified. In order to be placed on the team, the student-athlete must be at least a junior in academic standing, while maintaining at least a 3.4 GPA.
