(Columbia, SC) - The men's track and field team finished the outdoor season at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championships in Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday, May 9 through Friday, May 10.
The team had three athletes make the trip down. As Scott Smith (Junior; Saginaw, MI) competed in shot putt and javelin. Freshman, Jesse Lietzow (St. Clair Shores, MI) threw in both hammer and shot put. Elijah Boye (Sophomore; Westland, MI) competed in the 400 hurdles.
Lietzow was the only Cardinal to earn a point for the team, as he finished eighth in shot put at 14.04. Smith earned a 16-place finish in shot put with a throw of 11.98 meters.
In javelin, Smith earned a 20th-place finish with a throw of 36.84 meters. While Lietzow finished in 18th place in hammer with a distance of 36.61 meters.
Boye was the only Cardinal to compete on the track. As he won his heat in dominating fashion, but narrowly missed a point for the team. Boye finished ninth overall with a time of 59.91 seconds.
This concludes the 2023-2024 track season for the team. They will take some rest before starting up summer training. Please follow their social media for updates and the 2024-2025 meet schedule, which will be announced later this year.
