Women's Hockey taken down at Grand Valley

(Hudsonville, MI) The Concordia Cardinals returned to the ice Saturday for a matchup at Grand Valley State. After a narrow overtime loss on Friday night, the Cardinals fell to the Lakers, 9-1, on Saturday.

 

 

The Lakers scored a pair of goals in the first period, by way of Melanie Scram and Marlee Sprott.

 

Grand Valley had a high scoring second period, netting five goals. Sprott scored twice more, securing a hat trick for the game.

 

Scram added another goal early on in the third to put the Lakers up eight. Emma Shore found Grace Dodgson to break the Laker shutout, as Dodgson scored with less than five minutes left in the game. Abby McCallion and the Lakers responded back with the final goal of the game to keep the Laker advantage at eight.

 

Molly Burks was between the pipes for the Cardinals and saved 23 shots.

 

 

The Cardinals will be back next weekend with a pair of games on the road against Lake Superior State. The first game is slated for Friday, January 27th at 7:00 PM in Sault Ste. Marie.
