Jennifer Miller and Madalyn Fields named to NAIA All-America second team

NAIA All-America Teams

 

(Kansas City, MO) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)  recently announced their 2021 women's lacrosse  all-america teams. Jennifer Miller and Madalyn Fields highlighted honors for the Cardinals being named to the NAIA All-America second team This marks the first time in the women's lacrosse program that student-athletes have been recognized as NAIA all-american.

 

Jennifer Miller was recently named WHAC Defensive Player of the Year as well as to the WHAC first team. Miller anchored the Cardinals defense and possession game during the program's most successful season in program history. Miller tied for the team lead with 55 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers. She was second on the team with 26 ground balls. In all three of these categories, Miller ranked among the top five in the WHAC. She was also recognized three times this year as the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week. The junior standout was also named to the second team after her freshman season.

 

Madalyn Fields was also earned NAIA all-america honors after a successful junior campaign. Fields join Miller on the recently announced first team WHAC honors honors for the first time in her career. Fields anchored Cardinals draw control responsibilities and tied for Miller with the team high of 55. Her 55 draw controls ranked 4th most in the WHAC.  She also recorded 16 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.

 

Miller and Fields played an integral role in the Cardinals most successful season in program history. The women's lacrosse team finished the WHAC regular season with a perfect mark of 6-0 and earned the top seed in the WHAC tournament. The Cardinals were ranked every week in the NAIA Coaches' top 10 poll reaching their highest spot of 8 in four of the polls.
